Over the course of the past several years, more and more addiction treatment centers are introducing their clients to holistic methods of substance abuse recovery. Holistic addiction recovery has been found to play a vital role in the healing of the body, mind, and spirit of the afflicted individual. While addiction is a disease of the brain, one that dramatically affects the health of the body, it is also a disease of the spirit and soul. Many addicts and alcoholics are forced to compromise their values and moralistic beliefs as they fall deeper and deeper into their addictions. An initial sense of spirituality and connectedness is stripped away as drugs and alcohol become the center of one’s universe.

Our Methods Of Holistic Addiction Recovery

In order to recover in a truly balanced and fulfilled way, it is necessary to not only treat the physical damage done by substance dependency, but to also treat the extensive damage done to the spirit. At RECO Intensive, we actively work to combine traditional therapeutic treatment with proven and essential holistic methods of recovery, ensuring that each of our clients is healed comprehensively – from the inside out. There are many differing types of holistic recovery, and we at RECO Intensive have chosen the most successful and impactful to incorporate into our treatment plan.

Yoga & Meditation

Firstly, we offer our clients on-site yoga courses several times a week. Yoga has been proven to teach recovering addicts body-awareness – allowing them to focus on the inner-workings of their physical form and gain a better respect and understanding of the way the human body functions. Yoga also incorporates quiet meditation, which opens clients to silent meditation and self-reflection. Yoga has been shown to be internally healing, and many clients have found that they begin to feel much better physically after only several courses. In addition to yoga, we offer courses in meditation – also designed to help clients learn to quiet their minds and to facilitate a rapport with a higher power. Both yoga and meditation are lessons in patience and self-knowledge, and have been proven to aid in the maintenance of fulfilled sobriety.

Acupuncture & Art Therapy

Acupuncture is an essential component of East Asian medicine, originally developed over 2,500 years ago. A professional and experienced acupuncturist will insert needles into specified pressure points in each client, facilitating healing through the stimulation of biological responses. Many studies have been done proving the effectiveness of acupuncture. Finally, our clients are exposed to creative arts therapy. Creative arts therapy allows individuals to get in touch with their inner selves, and to express emotions and experiences that may be too difficult to express verbally. Additionally, creative therapy fosters a new way for clients to relax and ‘zone out’ without the assistance of drugs and alcohol. All of these holistic methods of addiction treatment have been proven over the years, and we have expertly combined methods that we know work with traditional methods of therapeutic and physical healing, resulting in a balanced recovery of the mind, body, and soul inclusively.
